The Dornier 328 is a German built, new generation aircraft with 32
passenger seats. It is one of the fastest and most advanced jetprops
in the world.
The latest turbo-propeller aircraft from Dornier, it has exceptional
take-off and landing performance allowing it to operate safely from
relatively short runways such as Caticlan. This exceptional
performance is a result of the combination of a jet engine powering
a relatively large propeller.
The propeller is more efficient than a straight jet and once
airborne, the aircraft can reach a cruise speed of 350 miles per
hour and a maximum altitude of 31,000 feet. This permits the plane
to climb above most of the weather systems, thus allowing for a
smooth flight.
All seats on the Dornier 328 give you business class space since the
aircraft is designed with more interior volume per passenger than
the 100+ seat Boeing 737.
The Dornier 328's Flight Management System (FMS), which is a
computer based navigation system, allows accurate and simple
navigation improving the crews capability to deviate around bad
weather systems and take full advantage of any short-cuts or direct
routes offered by Air Traffic Control.
Pilots have praised the combination of technology, power and
performance of the Dornier 328 saying that it is a delight to fly.
Moreover, many say that in the same size category, no other aircraft
can be considered a serious contender to it. |
